Hannam’s return good news for Cougars

WSU got a big lift Tuesday with the return of right tackle Micah Hannam to practice.

Hannam was hurt in the Oregon game, suffering a lower right leg injury that was first feared to be serious. But X-rays were negative and he was running a week later. He returned to pads and took most of the snaps at tackle.

If Hannam is capable of playing Saturday, it means the Cougars will be back to their usual starting line. Center Kenny Alfred took the day off but will be back today.

Ropati Pitoitua almost made the play of the day against the scout offense, but was unable to come up with a juggling interception. As the ball slipped through his fingers, the defensive tackle fell to the turf trying to corral it. He was given the appropriate amount of kidding from his teammates and practice continued.

Quarterback Alex Brink showed up for his weekly press conference wearing a Dice-K T-shirt and professing his support for the Red Sox in the World Series. Boston in four was Brink’s prediction.
