Neighbors appeal Tuscan Ridge approval

The Spokesman-Review

Residents living near the proposed Tuscan Ridge condominium project near 57th Avenue and Hatch Road are appealing a decision of the Spokane hearing examiner approving the project.

The Spokane City Council will hear the appeal on Nov. 29 at 2:30 p.m. at City Hall.

The Quail Ridge Annex LLC, Joseph Delay and Eileen Martin filed the appeal of a June 11 decision of the hearing examiner.

They opposed the project on environmental and other grounds.

The 100-unit project would be perched on a hillside overlooking the Latah Creek area and adjacent to Spokane parks conservation land.

The Parks Department has agreed to an easement for the project across its land for utility service in exchange for a trailhead, small parking area, fencing and a gated access path.

Much of the project is on steep hillside with an average slope of 45 degrees, according to appeal documents.
