3 things to watch

The Spokesman-Review

1

Quarterbacks under pressure: Pat Cowan will probably play for UCLA, but how well he’ll move is debatable. The junior, only weeks removed from a knee ligament injury, limped around practice all week. The Cougars will test his mobility early, blitzing their linebackers with regularity. UCLA will put pressure on Alex Brink as well, although it will probably come from the defensive ends.

2

Who can run? No one has run well on UCLA this season, with the Bruins yielding less than 80 yards a game. But the Bruins’ defensive tackles have been thinned recently by injuries and they’ll have three available this week. Middle linebacker Christian Taylor is also out. The Bruins have run well, but injuries have taken their toll with Chris Markey dealing with a bad toe.

3

Watch for trick plays: It’s a given sooner or later that UCLA receiver Brandon Breazell will run a reverse today. Last week he did in the first half against Cal. But it was just a prologue to what he did after halftime, when he took the reverse pitch, stopped and floated a TD. WSU, coming off a bye week, also might have something ready.
