Fowler’s score propels Indians

John Fowler scored on a 5-yard run in the third quarter to break a tie and give Colville a 13-7 win over Cheney in a Great Northern League game Friday in Colville.

Morgan Fowler recovered a fumble in the third quarter and returned it to the Blackhawks’ 5-yard line to set up the go-ahead score.

Cheney’s Griffin Jones caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Hardie in the first quarter to give the Blackhawks a 7-0 lead.

The Indians’ Brandon Katzer responded with a 76-yard touchdown run in the second to tie the game at 7 heading into the half.

Katzer finished with 126 yards on 10 carries for Colville (7-2, 4-2), while Jesus Fregoso had 29 carries for 141 yards to lead Cheney (4-5, 2-4).

In other league action, Bryan Peterson completed 10 of 17 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns, leading West Valley to a 33-0 shutout of visiting Deer Park (3-6, 1-5). Andy Vennum added two rushing scores and a touchdown reception for the Eagles (5-4, 4-2). … Derek Martin rushed for 99 yards and scored three touchdowns to guide Riverside to a 42-15 win over host Medical Lake (2-7, 0-6). Martin scored on 5- and 10-yard runs in the first quarter to give the Rams a 13-0 lead. Riverside (5-4, 2-4) added 15 points in the second and led 28-0 at the half.

Northeast 1B League

Jordan Hughes scored from 5 yards out in overtime to give Almira/Coulee-Hartline (8-1, 8-1) a 30-22 win over host Columbia in Hunters. Hughes finished with 178 yards rushing on 23 carries and scored three total touchdowns. Ryan Kieffer ran for a score and returned an interception for a touchdown to lead the Lions (6-2, 5-2). … In other league action, Austin Mannick ran for three touchdowns and threw for two scores to lead Curlew to a 44-14 win over visiting Wellpinit (3-6, 1-5). Ethan Mannick had two touchdown receptions for the Cougars (3-5, 3-5) who led 28-6 at the half. … Ryan King threw five touchdown passes to guide Odessa to a 60-12 rout of host Inchelium (1-7, 0-7). Aaron Bruya finished with 179 receiving yards and three scores for the Tigers (8-0, 8-0), who built a 54-12 halftime lead. … Pateros (5-4, 5-3) scored 14 second-half points and cruised to a 36-20 win over visiting Entiat (4-4, 3-4).

Chad Godley and Chase Bell ran for two touchdowns each to guide Reardan to a 55-6 rout of visiting Selkirk (3-5, 1-4). Josh Eldred added 145 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Indians (7-1, 5-0), who built a 34-0 halftime lead. … Elsewhere, Jordan Hancock ran for two touchdowns and threw for another score to guide Republic (4-3, 2-3) to a 24-16 win over host Liberty (4-4, 1-4). The Tigers’ Jeff Beck added a touchdown reception and returned a fumble 20 yards for a score in the fourth quarter. … Davenport outscored Springdale 28-0 in the first quarter and cruised to a 41-14 win. Will Hoppes scored from 3 yards out with 10 seconds left to lift Tri-Cities Prep to a 28-26 win over host Garfield-Palouse (7-2, 5-2). Hoppes finished with 290 yards passing and two touchdowns and added 90 rushing yards and two scores for the Jaugars. Tri-Cities Prep (6-3, 4-3) outscored the Vikings 28-12 in the second half after trailing 12-0 at halftime. Derec Styer ran for 244 yards on 32 carries and scored twice to lead Garfield-Palouse. … Elsewhere, Dillon Williams ran for 113 yards on seven carries and scored three touchdowns to lead Colton/Pullman Christian to a 56-8 win over host Sprague-Harrington.
