There were plenty of fireworks for the Inland Empire League football matchup between Post Falls and Sandpoint, but it was Mother Nature providing most of the sparks.

The electrical storm that blew through Kootenai County halted play for 1 hour, 20 minutes early in the first quarter Friday.

Play resumed about 8:40 p.m., and Post Falls took a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter when Randy Hamilton capped a 78-yard drive with a 7-yard run.

At 9:06 p.m. a power outage caused by a fallen tree at 16th Street and Greensferry Avenue threw the football field into darkness.

The remainder of the game has been rescheduled for 2:30 today at PFHS.

Lake City 49, Kennewick 21: The No. 1-ranked Timberwolves trailed for the first time this season. Kennewick (0-1) opened a 14-7 lead in the second quarter.

The teams headed to halftime knotted at 14, but the second half belonged to LC. The T-Wolves scored four straight TDs to open a 42-14 lead early in the fourth quarter.
