Red Sox 5, Blue Jays 3: At Boston, Josh Beckett tied for the major league lead with his 17th win and rookie Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits, helping the Red Sox beat Roy Halladay and Toronto. Mike Lowell was hitless to snap a 16-game hitting streak, which had been the longest current streak.

White Sox 3, Tigers 1: At Detroit, Josh Fields and Alex Cintron homered, and Jon Garland scattered seven hits over seven innings as Chicago beat the Tigers. Ehren Wasserman and Matt Thornton pitched a scoreless eighth, and Bobby Jenks worked the ninth for his 37th save in 42 chances.

Angels 4, Athletics 3: At Anaheim, Calif., Garret Anderson and Howie Kendrick hit two-run homers and Los Angeles beat Oakland. Jered Weaver won his third straight start, allowing two runs, seven hits and three walks over six innings.

Orioles 8, Devil Rays 2: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Melvin Mora drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and Ramon Hernandez followed with a three-run double as Baltimore beat Tampa Bay. Aubrey Huff went 3 for 4 with a two-run homer for the Orioles.

Rangers 9, Royals 8: At Arlington, Texas, Ian Kinsler raced home with the go-ahead run on a throwing error in the seventh inning, and the Rangers held on for a victory over Kansas City. Kinsler went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and scored two runs for Texas.

Indians 7, Twins 5 (11): At Minneapolis, Travis Hafner homered twice and drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the 11th inning as Cleveland beat Minnesota. Rafael Betancourt pitched two scoreless innings to get the win, and Joe Borowski worked the 11th for his 40th save.
