In brief: ATV group receives grant

The Spokesman-Review

The North Idaho ATV Association recently received a nearly $8,500 grant from Polaris Industries.

One of the largest organizations of its kind in the area, the North Idaho group will use the money to buy tools to assist the U.S. Forest Service in keeping up trails in the Fourth of July Pass area, said Frank Axtell, president of the association.

Axtell said more than 450 members belong to the ATV group. He said it’s already purchased some equipment and a trailer to transport the gear to the mountain pass.

The North Idaho group was among a dozen such organizations in as many states Polaris recently selected to receive grants.

Polaris regularly distributes money to ATV groups to develop trails, promote responsible and safe riding and to engage in activities aimed at ensuring trail access.
