In brief: Millwood plans cleanup

Millwood will hold a clean-up day next Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

A Dumpster for clean, green yard waste and one for some appliances and metal will be available in the parking lot north of City Hall, 9103 E. Frederick Ave.

Residents requiring help transporting appliances to the dump site or with questions, can call City Hall at 924-0960.

LIBERTY LAKE

Bailey’s Brigade Sunday

The third annual Bailey’s Brigade Car Show will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday on the north end of the Liberty Lake Albertsons parking lot.

It is a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Car registration is $10 and the suggested donation admission fee is $5, free for children younger than 12. For more information, visit baileysbrigade.com/show.

Florist’s flowers spread cheer

Appleway Florist and Greenhouse, 11006 E. Sprague Ave., gave away 1,600 free flowers Wednesday for FTD Good Neighbor Day.

The store gave a dozen carnations to anyone who promised to give away 11 of the bunch.

“We felt that we made a success out of it and made a few people feel great,” she said. Appleway also was collecting nonperishable food donations for the Second Harvest Food Bank. The store ended up with two large bins and several boxes of donated products, and some cash donations for the food bank.

CCS group plans fundraiser

Continuous Curriculum School PTSA is presenting a benefit dinner donated by Outback Steakhouse and free concert by Barry Lee White to provide educational and support services to students.

The fundraiser is being held at Liberty Lake’s Pavillion Park on Thursday. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. and the concert at 6:15. Cost for the steak and salmon dinner is $15. Dinner is picnic style so bring chairs or blankets.

Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday. Contact Angie Cameron 230-3368.
