Area Roundup: Eneroth guides Cougars to second

Junior Amy Eneroth (Mead High) finished tied for ninth with a three-round total of 5-over-par 221, leading the Washington State women’s golf team to a second-place finish Tuesday at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo.

WSU junior Jessica Black, senior Tracy Broders and sophomore Diana Hong all earned a tie for 14th place, shooting a 6-over 222.

Amanda Jacobs finished tied for seventh with a three-round total of 4-over 220 as Idaho tied for eighth with a team total of 901.

Eastern Washington placed 13th.

Chloe Nelson led the Eagles after shooting a 9-over 225, finishing tied for 29th.

Gonzaga finished in 18th place out of 20 teams. Sarah Sheffield tied for 49th with a 7-over 233 to lead the Bulldogs.

California won with a team total of 868, 19 shots ahead of Washington State.

Men’s soccer

Gonzaga earned spots in two national polls and one regional poll in the latest rankings.

The Bulldogs are ranked 19th by SoccerTimes.com and 20th in the National Soccer Coaches Association/Adidas Poll.

Also, Gonzaga is fifth in the NSCAA/Adidas Far West Regional rankings, its first appearance in the regional rankings since Nov. 21, 2001, when the Bulldogs were ranked eighth.
