In brief: SVBA endorses Dempsey

The Spokesman-Review

The Spokane Valley Business Association endorsed candidate Rose Dempsey for City Council on Wednesday.

Dempsey, who is challenging real estate agent David Crosby for a seat vacated by Mike Devleming, met with SVBA members last week.

“Ms. Dempsey was questioned sincerely by the SVBA board as well as two current council members, some prominent Valley citizens and appears to have no agenda other than the best interests of the citizens of the Spokane Valley,” said Terry Lynch, SVBA chairman.

A church music director, Dempsey is making her first run for local public office. She earned roughly 43 percent of the popular vote in a three-way August primary against Crosby and Joseph Edwards. Crosby, who also serves on the Spokane Valley Planning Commission, garnered 30 percent of the vote.

The general election is Nov. 6. Mail-in ballots should arrive in postal boxes Oct. 17.

Police seek conning couple

A man and woman who talked their way into a Spokane Valley home to use the bathroom and then stole a purse, are wanted by Secret Witness.

Nicholas A. Limpert and a female accomplice convinced a Spokane Valley woman to let them use her home bathroom. While inside the home, Limpert stole the woman’s purse.

The victim attempted to stop the couple, but was hit by the open door of their getaway car. Limpert was later arrested for vehicle theft and his jacket and his accomplice’s dress were found inside the car. Later he was released from custody.

Limpert is now wanted for second-degree felony theft. His extensive criminal record has qualified him as a repeat offender by local law enforcement.

He is white, 24 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. His last known address was 1409 E. Hartson Ave.
