STANLEY FRANKS, UI RIGHT CORNERBACK

There was no player in the nation last season with more interceptions per game than Franks, the junior college transfer who paid immediate dividends. The 5-foot-11, 157-pound speedster didn’t get one against the Cougars last year.

A’I AHMU, WSU DEFENSIVE TACKLE

The Cougars’ defensive linemen aren’t expected to make a lot of tackles. They are expected to fill gaps, keep offensive linemen occupied and allow the linebackers to roam the field and make plays. But Ahmu can be disruptive while still fulfilling his role.

NATHAN ENDERLE, UI QUARTEBACK

The redshirt freshman from North Platte, Neb., won the quarterback job last spring but has yet to hit his stride. The 6-5 Enderle has completed just 41 percent of his passes, although he hasn’t thrown an interception.
