Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: Regarding your item about documenting car accidents with a camera (keeping a disposable one in the auto – Heloise), I have some comments.

For about 15 years, I taught a safe-driving class for seniors and always suggested they carry a camera. One lady who came back after three years for a refresher course told me it saved her a lawsuit after an accident.

More on cameras: Take a picture of the other drivers and their companions. Get the road surface and snap their license plate and driver’s license. If there is a street sign nearby, get it. Maybe get a clock or watch. Later, filling out the accident report, you will need much information.

I suggest leaving the camera in your car and replacing it at Christmas and the Fourth of July. – Rue Smith, Orange, Calif.
