Mets 8, Nationals 4: At Washington, David Wright’s three RBIs, Moises Alou’s three hits and Mike Pelfrey’s good-enough start helped New York beat the Nationals and end a five-game losing streak. Wright reached 100 RBIs, Alou extended his hitting streak to a career-best 23 games and Pelfry won his third straight decision.

Cardinals 2, Phillies 1 (10): At St. Louis, Yadier Molina singled home the winning run with two outs in the 10th inning, giving the Cardinals a victory that stopped Philadelphia’s six-game winning streak.

Braves 5, Marlins 1: At Atlanta, Edgar Renteria had three hits, including a home run, and Chuck James allowed only two hits in seven scoreless innings as the Braves beat Florida.

Cubs 3, Reds 2: At Chicago, Alfonso Soriano homered to lead the Cubs over Cincinnati. Reds outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. had to leave the game in the eighth when he injured his abdomen making a throw.

Houston 5, Milwaukee 4 (10): At Houston, Hunter Pence singled home the winning run in the 10th inning and the Astros beat Milwaukee, dropping the Brewers a game behind the Cubs.

Padres 5, Pirates 3: At San Diego, Scott Hairston hit a three-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning and the Padres beat the Pirates to increase their wild-card lead to 2 1/2 games over the Phillies.

Diamondbacks 6, Giants 4: At Phoenix, Conor Jackson homered and Chris Snyder had three hits and three RBIs to lead Arizona over San Francisco.

Rockies 6, Dodgers 5: At Denver, Brad Hawpe hit a two-run homer in the eighth and Colorado beat Los Angeles.
