Post Falls beats Moscow 34-21

Nikk Reinhardt converted 17 of 27 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns to lead Post Falls to a 34-21 Inland Empire League 5A/4A matchup over host Moscow on Friday.

Randy Hamilton scored on an 18-yard run in the second quarter to give the Trojans a 20-7 halftime lead.

Zak Hull was 12 of 25 passing for 272 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bears.

With the win, Post Falls improved to 4-0 on the season while Moscow dropped to 1-3.

North Star League

Wallace built a 50-8 halftime lead and cruised to a 64-14 win over visiting Mullan (2-2, 0-1) to open North Star League action. Tom Norris ran for five touchdowns and returned an interception for another score to lead the Miners (4-0, 1-0). The game was called in the third quarter because of the 45-point mercy rule.

In another league opener, Ben Shannon ran for two touchdowns and quarterback Taylor Dodson threw for two scores as Kootenai defeated host Lakeside 38-28 in Plummer. The Warriors (4-1, 1-0) scored all of their points in the first half and the Knights responded with all 28 of their points in the second half. Alex Campbell ran for two touchdowns to lead Lakeside (0-3, 0-1).

Intermountain League

Priest River (2-2, 1-0) scored 23 second-half points and beat host St. Maries (1-4, 0-1) 29-14.

Non-league

Casey Locker ran for 117 yards on 16 carries and scored three touchdowns, leading Ferndale to a 35-14 non-league win over visiting Lewiston. The Bengals’ P.J. Munoz caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tom Kerr in the second quarter to give Lewiston (2-2) a 7-0 halftime lead. Ferndale took care of business in the second half, outscoring the Bengals 35-7. … Clark Fork’s game at Inchelium was canceled because the Hornets did not have enough players to participate.

Northeast A

Levi Ellis scored from 6 yards out in overtime to give Colfax (3-1, 3-1) a 21-15 win over host Freeman (2-2, 2-2) in Northeast A League action. Freeman senior Kyle Naber tied the game at 15 with a 25-yard field goal with just more than 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter. … In other league action, Reid Chivers ran for 115 yards and one touchdown and Jake Graham added 112 yards and a score as Lakeside topped visiting Newport (0-4, 0-4) 34-13 in Nine Mile Falls. Wes McAdam added a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown and Eric Van Meter returned a kickoff 85 yards for another score for the Eagles (4-0, 4-0), who led 14-0 at the half. … Lucas Fox scored from 1 yard out in overtime, giving Kettle Falls (3-1, 3-1) an 18-12 win over visiting Chewelah (0-4, 0-4). On the ensuing possession, Justin Carstens sacked Chewelah quarterback Sam Fisk on fourth down and twelve to end the game. Fox finished with 141 yards rushing on 27 carries.

Northeast 2B

P.J. Hill caught two touchdown passes and Max Barger ran for two scores as Davenport routed visiting Republic (1-1, 0-1) 41-0. After a scoreless first quarter, the Gorillas (1-3, 1-2) scored 21 points in the second quarter. … Elsewhere, Mike Osborn completed all five of his passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns as Lind-Ritzville shut out visiting Selkirk (2-1, 0-1) 43-0. Isaiah Grant added 80 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Broncos (2-1, 1-0), who led 31-0 at the half.

Southeast 1B

Garfield-Palouse (4-0, 2-0) exploded for 42 first-quarter points en route to a 64-0 rout of visiting Jubilee Academy (0-4, 0-3) in the Southeast 1B League. J.B. Lang ran for 112 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Vikings’ attack. … Elsewhere, Corey Horstman and Chase Druffel each ran for two touchdowns, leading Colton/Pullman Christian (3-1, 3-0) to a 38-24 win over host LaCrosse-Washtucna (1-3, 1-2). Ryan Troll added a touchdown reception for the Wildcats, who built a 22-8 lead at the half.

Northeast 1B

Jacob Schmidt ran for 285 yards on 19 carries and scored five touchdowns as Odessa routed visiting Almira/Coulee-Hartline (3-1, 3-1) 56-6. The game was out of reach after the first quarter as the Tigers (4-0, 4-0) built a 30-0 lead. … Spencer Shanholtzer scored two rushing touchdowns and threw for another as Cusick routed visiting Curlew (1-2, 1-2) 52-8. The game was out of reach at halftime as the Panthers (1-3, 1-2) built a 32-0 lead.
