Boys soccer

Daniel Anderson and Alex Crossingham each scored first-half goals as Sandpoint edged Lake City 2-1 in Inland Empire League action in Coeur d’Alene.

Jason Wheelock had the Vikings’ lone goal, scoring off an assist from Tyler Powers in the 64th minute.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 8-4-2 on the season and 6-1-1 in the IEL while Coeur d’Alene fell to 5-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in league play.

In other league action, Forest Walker scored two goals and added an assist as Coeur d’Alene defeated host Post Falls 6-1. Robbie Astin added a goal and two assists for the Vikings (11-0-2, 7-0-2). Chad Mehalechko put the Trojans (2-6-1, 1-5-1) ahead 1-0 with a goal off an assist from Griffin Hoerner in the 14th minute. Jordan Eborall, Drew Hardin and John Schmeil also added goals for CdA, which outshot Post Falls 18-4. … David Sanchez scored three goals, guiding Moscow (9-3, 6-3) to a 5-1 win over visiting Lakeland (1-9-2, 0-7-1). Ian Engerbretson and Mac Stannard each added a goal for the Bears, who outshot the Hawks 15-1.

Girls soccer

Ciara Kremer scored on a free kick in the 64th minute, helping Lake City earn a 1-1 tie with host Sandpoint in the Inland Empire League. Bailey Hewitt put the Bulldogs ahead 1-0 with a goal off an assist from Brittany Oakley in the 12th minute. Shannon Fraser kept the Timberwolves (7-2-3, 5-1-2) in the match by saving 11 shots. Sandpoint (8-5-2, 6-2-1) was in control, outshooting LC 14-5. … Elsewhere in the league, Moscow and host Lakeland played to a 1-1 tie in Rathdrum. Kerry Moller put the Bears (4-4-2, 2-4-2) ahead in the 70th minute with a penalty-kick goal. Jaymian Stuermer responded for the Hawks (2-9-2, 1-6-2) two minutes later with another penalty-kick goal. … Taryne Ela and Kaylee Nowoj scored two goals apiece, leading Coeur d’Alene to a 7-1 win over Post Falls (1-7-2, 0-6-1) in CdA. Jill Meredith, Shandra Naegle and Sadie Simon also had goals for the Vikings (10-3-1, 8-1), who held a 14-5 advantage in shots. Marissa Poorboy added two assists for the Vikings.

Marah Ashcraft and Lee Fink each scored as Kellogg (5-3-2, 3-2-1) blanked visiting Priest River (0-4, 0-4) 2-0 in the Intermountain League.

Volleyball

Natalie Stuart dished out 15 assists and Maggie Reno added three aces and nine blocks as Coeur d’Alene defeated visiting Lakeland 25-19, 25-13, 25-22 in the Inland Empire League. Kama Griffitts added eight kills for the Vikings (6-1). The Hawks (2-5) were led by Kristyn App, who had a team-high 10 kills and six blocks. … Elsewhere in the IEL, Hilary Ayers had seven kills and eight digs and Sam Georgius dished out 20 assists as Lake City beat host Post Falls 25-18, 25-18, 25-16. Alivia Johnson added six aces for the Timberwolves (4-4). Jenny McVeigh had eight kills and Aynslee Stuart added 24 digs to lead the Trojans (0-7). … Maddie Dolny had seven assists and five aces, leading Moscow (5-2) to a 25-8, 25-15, 25-17 win over visiting Lewiston (2-6).

Kristina Turpin had a match-high six kills and 12 assists as Bonners Ferry downed host Timberlake 25-11, 25-16, 25-22 in Intermountain League play at Spirit Lake. Michaela Dirks added six aces for the Badgers (1-4). Cassie Thompson had a team-high five kills and two blocks to lead the Tigers (0-4). … In other league play, Marisa Bush had nine kills and Stephanie Squires dished out 19 assists as Kellogg (3-1) defeated visiting Priest River 23-25, 13-25, 25-23, 25-22, 15-10. Crystal Nelson had 43 digs to lead the Spartans (2-2).

Katie Baker had a match-high 11 kills and Sara McHugh handed out 22 assists as Coeur d’Alene Charter defeated visiting Clark Fork 25-14, 25-21, 25-22 in North Star League action. Libbi Redline chipped in 11 digs for the Panthers (2-3). Chelsea Macumber had 23 kills and four blocks to lead the Wampus Cats (1-3).

Eileen Chatfield had a match-high 15 kills and Hailey Parrish dished out 24 assists as University defeated visiting Central Valley 24-26, 25-19, 25-18, 25-10 in a Greater Spokane League match.
