Tigers 8, Twins 0: At Detroit, Magglio Ordonez homered and doubled, Yorman Bazardo threw seven scoreless innings and the Tigers beat Minnesota. Bazardo gave up six hits and three walks while striking out five in his second major league start.

Blue Jays 11, Orioles 4: At Baltimore, Frank Thomas went 4 for 4, including his 513th home run, and drove in three runs to lead Toronto past the Orioles. Aaron Hill also hit his 17th homer for the Blue Jays, matching Roberto Alomar’s 1993 club record for a second baseman.

Red Sox 7, Athletics 3: At Boston, Manny Ramirez returned to the Red Sox lineup after a 24-game absence and finished 1 for 2 with a walk that started a two-run fifth in a victory over Oakland. Curt Schilling earned the win allowing one run and striking out six over six innings.

Rangers 3, Angels 1: At Arlington, Texas, Hank Blalock singled in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and Jamey Wright pitched four scoreless innings to earn Texas’ victory over Los Angeles.

Devil Rays 7, Yankees 6 (10): At St. Petersburg, Fla., Tampa Bay’s Jorge Velandia hit a grand slam for his first career home run and Dioner Navarro added a solo shot in the 10th inning to lead the Devil Rays over New York. Alex Rodriguez hit a grand slam for his MLB-best 53rd homer in the loss.

Royals 9, White Sox 5: At Chicago, Tony Pena homered and tied a career high with four hits as Kansas City scored eight unanswered runs to beat Chicago. Brandon Duckworth pitched two scoreless innings of relief for the victory.
