Gonzaga University associate athletic director Heather Gores has been named to the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee, a term that expires Sept. 1, 2012.

Main function of the 10-person committee is to select the 64 teams for the NCAA Division I championships every March.

Gores is in her 14th year at GU and her eighth in administration. Six of those years she was an assistant coach in women’s basketball. She was also a two-year basketball assistant at Washington State, where she was a four-year letter winner.

“Heather’s ability to think strategically, combined with her extensive background as a player and coach, will make her a valuable asset to this important NCAA committee,” said West Coast Conference commissioner Michael Gilleran.
