Two hospitalized after police chase

Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

Two men in a stolen car being pursued by Spokane police were hospitalized early Saturday after the vehicle they were in hit two street lights.

About 2:30 a.m., officers located a stolen car in downtown Spokane and pursued it north on Ruby Street, said Spokane police Sgt. Troy Tiegen.

The driver, Demetrius Sanders, 31, lost control near Cleveland Avenue, hit two street lights and the car rolled, Tiegen said.

Sanders and his passenger, Ronnie Lacy, 27, were taken to Deaconess Medical Center where they were listed in satisfactory condition Saturday night.

Sanders, of Spokane, is expected to be taken to jail after being released from the hospital, Tiegen said. Possible charges include possession of stolen property, eluding police and vehicular assault.

Ruby was closed until about 5 a.m. while police cleared the scene.
