Police respond to several crashes on icy roads

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

Freezing fog kept authorities busy Tuesday morning as motorists skidded and crashed along Inland Northwest roads.

According to Trooper Mark Baker, the Washington State Patrol responded to:

•A rollover crash in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 at Liberty Lake.

•Two one-car collisions in the eastbound lanes at Argonne Road.

•A crash in the westbound lanes of I-90 at Sullivan Road.

•A semitruck-vs.-car crash that blocked the two inside lanes of I-90 at Evergreen.

The Idaho State Police responded to a vehicle off I-90 near Post Falls.

“The roads are really icy,” Baker said.

The 6 a.m. temperature was 23 in Spokane and 19 in Coeur d’Alene, according to the National Weather Service.

The sun will make an appearance today, and the high should reach 47 in Spokane and 45 in Coeur d’Alene, according to the NWS Web site.

The sun is expected to stick around Thursday. The high could reach 53 in Spokane and 52 in Coeur d’Alene.

But rain could make a quick comeback Friday despite an expected high of 55 in Spokane and 53 in Coeur d’Alene.
