WSU’s Moody in 2nd Place

Ricky Moody of Washington State is the top collegian and in second place overall in the men’s decathlon after the first day of the 81st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Wednesday at Mike A. Meyers Stadium at the University of Texas in Austin.

Moody reached a personal-best first-day total of 4,156 points and is on record pace with four lifetime-best marks in the first five events.

Baseball

Brooks Archer had three hits in the opener and Chase Hunter pitched six shutout innings in the 11-inning second game as host Big Bend (11-9, 2-2) posted a 7-5, 1-0 sweep of Community Colleges of Spokane (10-8, 1-4) in NWAACC play at Moses Lake.

Golf

Chelsey Lollar became the fifth Eastern Washington Eagle to be named Big Sky Golfer of the Week this season. The senior finished in a sixth-place tie at the NCAA West Regional Preview in Lincoln, Calif.

Harshman dies

Dorothy Harshman, wife of longtime college basketball coach Marv Harshman, died of complications from a stroke, her family said. She was 86.

Marv, now 90, was a renowned coach for Pacific Lutheran University, Washington State and University of Washington.
