Dale Entel was 3 for 4 with a double and Tyler Gillie was 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored Tuesday as Clarkston upset second-place Colville 5-3 in the first game of a Great Northern League doubleheader at Colville. Colville (7-1, 5-1) rebounded to edge Clarkston (1-2, 1-1) 8-7 in the second game, despite giving up five runs in the seventh inning. Zak Pete was 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Colville. … Elsewhere, Medical Lake (4-2, 4-1) needed a game-winning hit from Mike Constantine to outlast visiting Cheney (3-1, 0-2) 8-7. Constantine was 4 for 5 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Connor Herdt pitched seven shutout innings as Bonners Ferry (4-2, 1-0) blanked Priest River (1-2, 1-1) 2-0 in an Intermountain League game. Herdt lost a bid at a no-hitter in the sixth inning when Priest River’s John Butler singled with no outs. Herdt scored both of BF’s runs. … Timberlake and St. Maries rescheduled their game and will play today at 4 p.m.

“Lake City (5-0) downed visiting Post Falls (1-5, 0-1) 4-2 in an Inland Empire League game. Dylan Collinson was 2 for 2, including a two-run double in the third inning that broke open the game for LC. He scored later in that inning when teammate Tobin Bresch‘s single plated him.

Softball

Emilee Lepp and Jordan Emmil had back-to-back home runs in the third inning to lead visiting Colville (9-1, 6-0) over Clarkston (2-3, 1-3) 12-3 and keep the Indians undefeated in Great Northern League play. Makayla Carr struck out 18 and allowed two earned runs in the first game of a doubleheader. In the nightcap, Colville dropped Clarkston 18-2 and got another strong performance from Lepp, who went 3 for 3. Michelle Ching was 3 for 4 with a home run. … Medical Lake (1-3, 1-0) defeated Deer Park (0-4, 0-3) 13-3 in the first game of a doubleheader. Deer Park’s Melissa Brown was 3 for 4 with a double and two triples. The second game was suspended by darkness with the scored knotted at 15 in the fifth inning. No makeup date was scheduled.

Ana Graham went the distance in Timberlake’s (4-3, 2-0) 10-3 Intermountain League victory at St. Maries (5-2, 1-1). Jenn Bittner’s two-run single during a five-run fifth inning broke a 3-3 tie for Timberlake. Holee Edeblute was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.

“Lewiston (8-1, 5-1) held off host Moscow (4-6, 3-4) 7-6 in Inland Empire League action despite a five-run seventh inning from Moscow. Sammy Byers was 4 for 4, including a two-run homer in the first inning, and drove in three runs for Lewiston.

Boys soccer

Amr Alamri‘s goal from Jonas Heckelei at the 38th minute broke a scoreless tie and was the only score of the contest as host Pullman downed Riverside (2-5, 2-3) 1-0. With the victory, Pullman moved to 7-0, 5-0. … Medical Lake (3-3, 2-3) goalkeeper John Melvin shut out visiting Colville (0-5, 0-5) 1-0. Teammate John Melvin netted the lone goal of the contest at the 63rd minute. … Cheney (7-1, 5-1) recorded a decisive 12-1 victory over visiting Chewelah (1-6, 1-4). Mitch Weller netted two goals and added four assists while Caton Oyolokor collected two scores and an assist. … Deer Park downed host Lakeside 3-1 at Nine Mile Falls to pull within one game of the Eagles in the league standings. Deer Park goalkeeper Sergiy Berezhnoy allowed one goal to open the second half and recorded eight saves. … West Valley (6-2, 5-1) downed Clarkston (1-7, 1-5) 4-2 thanks to a pair of second-half goals.

Track

Post Falls beat Sandpoint and Couer d’Alene to win a boys Inland Empire League tri-meet. Jacob King won the shot put and discus with throws of 44-91/2 and 124-3, respectively. On the girls’ side Coeur d’Alene won with Danna Drajer taking the 400 in 1:03.01.
