Twing.com tries to uncover forum discussions
Search engines don’t always track a large segment of the Web, the vast collection of online discussions occurring in forums — everything from the seller groups on eBay to the arcane discussions in specialized tech groups.
Twing.com is one of a number of sites that claim they provide solid search results inside those forums.
It’s only a month old and we’d expect the results to improve over the next six months. What we like: it organizes results by keyword, by forum or by topic. We also like that it has a community buzz feature, supposedly tracking the busiest, most active topics and forums.
What we don’t like: generally limited results so far. The community buzz seems skewed toward health and sex topics. But Twing lets you remove search terms to improve the results you get.
You might compare Twing with similar sites like BoardReader.com, BoardTracker.com and Omgili.com.
