Red Sox 7, Yankees 5: Manny Ramirez hit two homers to lead the visiting Red Sox past New York. Ramirez hit his 494th home run in the first, passing Lou Gehrig and Fred McGriff on the career list, then added No. 495 an inning later with a two-run shot to left. Josh Beckett (2-1) pitched eight innings.

Indians 11, Tigers 1: At Cleveland, Fausto Carmona allowed a run in 6 2/3 innings and Ryan Garko and Travis Hafner hit two-run homers to lead Cleveland over Detroit. Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander remained winless in four starts.

Orioles 6, White Sox 5 (10): At Baltimore, Adam Jones singled in the game-winning run in the 10th inning, capping a late comeback that gave the Orioles a victory over Chicago. Baltimore trailed 5-2 in the eighth before rallying to split the two-game series.

Rangers 4, Blue Jays 1: At Toronto, Vicente Padilla pitched seven strong innings, Ian Kinsler had three hits and Texas handed the Blue Jays their fifth straight home defeat. Padilla (2-1) allowed one run and seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Roy Halladay went the distance for Toronto.

Rays 7, Twins 3: At Minneapolis, Nathan Haynes’ single keyed a four-run rally and Tampa Bay beat Minnesota. Jason Hammel (1-1) allowed six hits and three runs while striking out five in six innings. J.P. Howell earned his first career save with three innings of scoreless relief.

Angels 5, Royals 3: Garret Anderson doubled in three runs, Erick Aybar had an RBI double and scored another run on a grounder with the infield in, and Los Angeles beat Kansas City.
