Ex-student to testify in rape

From Staff and Wire Reports The Spokesman-Review

A former Washington State University student has agreed to testify against an adult-film actor charged with raping a woman at a sorority in September.

Whitman County Prosecutor Denis Tracy said he made a plea bargain with Kyle Schott, who agreed to testify against Christopher Jack Reid, a California man who acts in pornographic films under the name Jack Venice.

The plea bargain was reported by the Associated Press, and attempts to contact Tracy for details of the agreement were unsuccessful Wednesday.

Reid faces five felony charges – second-degree rape and four burglary counts – and is free on $200,000 bail.

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Prosecutors have alleged that Schott met Reid at a Pullman bar before the two burglarized three sororities and sexually assaulted a sleeping woman in one of them early Sept. 13.

Police reports say a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority awoke to find two men in her room. The men fled.

She told police she believes she was sexually assaulted in her sleep.

Police say Schott told officers that he had watched as Reid “spooned” with the victim and touched her as she slept, according to court papers filed in support of the charges.

He said he also handed Reid a condom – and the victim said she believes the sound of a condom package being opened may have been what awakened her.

Also about the time of the attack, police say, someone had been viewing porn sites on a sorority member’s computer.

Though some of Reid’s films are marketed as “amateur” productions in a sorority setting, police have said there was no indication that the assault was filmed.
