In brief: City considers curbside recycling

The Spokesman-Review

The city of Cheney is in the preliminary stages of exploring whether curbside pickup for recycling is a feasible option for residents.

Residents currently must take their recycling to the Cheney Recycling Center, 100 W. Anderson Drive, which is open from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Arlene Fisher, city administrator, said the city is exploring options with Sunshine Disposal to set up a curbside recycling program.

The city is weighing residents’ interest in the service and potential costs.

“We’d like to see it work for the city,” Fisher said.
