BOISE – Authorities say they are removing wolves, bobcats, house cats and dogs from deplorable living conditions at a private residence in Owyhee County.

The removal Wednesday from a residence near Melba follows a lengthy investigation by the Owyhee County Sheriff Department, the Idaho Humane Society and state and federal wildlife agencies.

Owyhee County Sheriff Gary Aman said the woman who has owned the animals for about 14 years can no longer care for them because of declining health. Under a deal worked out by authorities, the woman will not face charges.

Investigators say the animals are underfed and living in poor conditions.

Officials say more than a dozen wolves and bobcats are being removed along with dozens of cats and dogs.

Some of the animals are being transported to the Humane Society.
