Oops, Fish and Game did it again

Re: Charles Corsi commenting on the kokanee population’s crash in Lake Pend Oreille sounded as if he was singing Britney Spear’s “Oops, I Did it Again.”

How sad is it that Idaho governors and elected officials haven’t taken notice and insisted upon better accountability from this rogue agency? Trophy fish populations have crashed in Priest Lake along with kokanee populations in Lake Coeur d’Alene.

Once abundant, west slope cutthroat are hardly ever found in a fisherman’s creel nowadays. Less desirous fish species abound.

Are you seeing a trend?

What does IDFG has to say? Certainly not to put into print just how bad all the fisheries have crashed in the past two decades, but to simply say “wish we coulda taken that back.”

With apologies to Britney –

Oops, Fish and Game did it again.

Mismanaged the big lakes, lost all favorite fins.

For no accountability, then keep them within.

The state agency that seemingly acts on a whim.”

Former IDFG Director Jerry Mallet once admonished his state fisheries managers “to add a little splash” in presumably referencing the introduction of mysis shrimp into Lake Pend Oreille as a good thing.

Insisting upon accountability is a cheap shot, right, Mr. Corsi?
