Fresh Sheet: Reserve a May 10 tea time

Pamper Mom this Mother’s Day and help boost other moms who really need a hand.

The Women’s and Children’s Free Restaurant is hosting a Spring High Tea on May 10. Tickets are $35 each or $280 for a table of eight.

Doors open at 11 a.m., and high tea will be served from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Providence Auditorium at Sacred Heart Medical Center, 101 W. Eighth Ave.

Local crafters and artists will have their work on display for sale during the event.

Money raised by the tea will help the Women’s and Children’s Free Restaurant serve nutritious meals in a safe environment Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The “restaurant” also offers lunch and a “take-out” program on Fridays so families have meals and groceries to use at home. The restaurant is in the basement of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at 1620 N. Monroe St.

Windows wins wine kudos

Windows Restaurant at Red Lion Hotel at the Park received a nod for the third straight year for its commitment to Washington wines.

The Washington Wine Commission gave the restaurant a certificate of recognition at a recent awards ceremony. The award is judged based on restaurant’s wine list, wine service and staff training, promotional events with Washington wines and its selection of Washington wines offered by the glass and bottle.

Taste more Washington wines

Speaking of Washington wines, tickets for the June 8 Taste Washington Spokane are on sale.

Choose wines from more than 100 Washington wineries and enjoy eats from some 30 local restaurants. The event will be held at the Davenport Hotel, 10 S. Post St., from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
