Pullman wins, grabs share of GNL lead

David Sharratt scored a first-half goal and Amr Alamri found the net in the second half to lead Pullman (14-1, 12-1) to a 2-0 win over visiting Medical Lake (6-8, 6-8) in Great Northern League boys soccer play on Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Luke Nofsinger made six saves to notch his eighth shutout of the season as Pullman pulled even with Cheney atop the standings.

Elsewhere in the GNL, Craig Norman and Bryer Reynolds each had a goal and an assist to lead West Valley (10-6, 9-4) to a 4-1 victory over visiting Chewelah (1-14, 11-4). … Austin Durfee netted two goals to lead Clarkston (2-13, 2-11) to a 2-0 win over host Colville (2-13, 2-12). … Joey Nyberg scored in the 48th minute to lead visiting Riverside (9-6, 9-4) to a 1-0 win over Deer Park (6-6, 6-6).

Golf

Elliot Bosch and Ryan Connley each shot 5-over-par 77s to tie for second place and lead Ferris to the boys team title at the Chewelah Invitational at Chewelah Golf and Country Club. Ferris totaled 321 strokes – six ahead of runner-up Clarkston. Cheney’s Aaron Byrd was the medalist with a 72.

•Bonners Ferry’s boys and Kellogg’s girls earned Intermountain League regular-season titles in the finale at Mirror Lake Golf Course in Bonners Ferry. Carey Reynolds shot a 6-over 78, one shot better than teammate Derek Deitz, to earn medalist honors and lead the Badgers (321) to a 46-stroke win over runner-up Kellogg. Taryn Cochrane (98) and Kelsey Harden (99) finished 1-2 to lead the Wildcats to their fifth straight league title.

Baseball

Brandon Brubaker’s two-run seventh-inning single led Post Falls (9-11, 8-7) to a 6-5 win and a doubleheader split with visiting Lake City (13-4, 8-4) in Inland Empire League play. LC won the opener 6-1 behind Trent Bridges’ 3-for-4 day at the plate. … Lakeland’s doubleheader at Sandpoint was rained out and will be made up on Thursday. … Lewiston’s single game at Moscow was rained out and will likely not be made up.

•Josh Eastin, Kyle Overland and Cody Perez each tallied three hits to lead Timberlake (8-8, 5-4) to a 9-4 win over visiting Bonners Ferry (9-5, 4-3) in Intermountain League play at Spirit Lake. … Elsewhere in the IML, Kellogg’s game at St. Maries was rained out and won’t be made up.

•Visiting Clarkston posted 9-4 and 11-8 victories over Cheney in a Great Northern League makeup doubleheader.

Softball

Lake City (17-4, 13-2) swept visiting Post Falls (12-8, 8-6) 9-0, 5-0 to remain on top of the Inland Empire League standings. LC’s Lila Work allowed just two hits in the first game and Blake Meredith gave up three in the nightcap. … Elsewhere in the IEL, Coeur d’Alene (17-5, 13-3) romped to a 13-0, 17-0 sweep of host Moscow (8-14, 6-10).

•Timberlake (14-6, 11-0) only had to play six innings to pick up a pair of wins against visiting Bonners Ferry (1-6, 0-6) in Intermountain League play at Spirit Lake. Ana Graham threw a three-inning no-hitter to lead the Tigers to a 15-0 win in the opener and Afton Allred fired a three-inning no-hitter in a 21-0 win in the nightcap. … Also in the IML, Kellogg’s game at St. Maries was rained out and won’t be rescheduled.

Track and field

Lind-Ritzville’s boys and girls rolled to team titles at the Bi-County team championships in Ritzville. The Broncos boys outdistanced runner-up Odessa 190-118, while the girls topped runner-up Liberty 135.5-97. Jana Jasman of Odessa was a triple winner for the girls, winning the 300-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the long jump.

Boys tennis

Whitman Hough cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Sean Brauner in No. 1 singles as Ferris wrapped up an unbeaten Greater Spokane League with a 7-0 win over host Shadle Park.
