The Spokesman-Review will premiere a new weekday radio show with news and opinion Monday.
“On the Record with Rebecca Mack” will air on KJRB, 790 AM. The hour-long show will begin at 11 a.m.
Mack, the show’s host, is the former producer and fill-in host of “The Mark Fuhrman Show,” which aired in Spokane.
Dan Mitchinson, director of radio operations for The Spokesman-Review, will handle news for the show.
The show will originate from the Spokesman-Review newsroom.
“I think this is a natural progression for The Spokesman-Review,” Mitchinson said. “You have the newspaper, online and the hourly newscasts we provide for KJRB. This is an extension of all three. The show will be topical and allow us to go more in depth with local issues and stories than you’re able to in a traditional two- or three-minute newscast.”
“On the Record” also will feature weekly segments with columnists Paul Turner and Doug Clark and music writer Isamu Jordon.
“And when news happens, we have the largest news gathering organization in the Inland Northwest right outside our studio door,” Mitchinson said. “We’ll try to mold the show around the news and events that are happening that day. So I don’t think of this so much as a talk show, at least not in the traditional sense, but more of a community forum.”
The Spokesman-Review launched its KJRB radio initiative in April, offering news updates weekdays on the half-hour from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
