Cubs 9, Marlins 2: At Miami, Fla., two-run doubles by Alfonso Soriano and Aramis Ramirez and a three-run double by Reed Johnson sparked an eight-run seventh inning that rallied Chicago past Florida.

Reds 7, Cardinals 3: At Cincinnati, Edinson Volquez pitched seven shutout innings and traded up-and-in fastballs with counterpart Kyle Lohse, leading the Reds to a victory that ended St. Louis’ four-game winning streak.

Mets 4, Pirates 0: At Pittsburgh, Johan Santana pitched a three-hitter for his fifth career shutout and New York got home runs from Brian Schneider and Carlos Beltran to beat Pittsburgh.

Giants 3, Braves 1: At Atlanta, Tim Lincecum pitched 7 2/3 strong innings, and closer Brian Wilson got San Francisco out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth, helping the Giants to a victory over the Braves.

Rockies 7, Nationals 2: At Washington, Ian Stewart and Seth Smith hit three-run homers, Aaron Cook pitched five innings to pick up his 15th victory and Colorado handed the Nationals their season-high 10th straight loss.

Astros 3, Diamondbacks 0: At Houston, Roy Oswalt allowed one hit in eight innings and struck out 10, outpitching Randy Johnson in the Astros’ victory over Arizona – Houston’s ninth win in 11 games.

Dodgers 7, Brewers 5: At Los Angeles, Andre Ethier hit his second homer of the game in the ninth inning and the Dodgers recovered to beat Milwaukee after blowing a four-run lead.

Phillies 2, Padres 1: At San Diego, Cole Hamels limited the Padres to one run on seven hits in eight sharp innings, Pat Burrell hit a go-ahead homer, and Philadelphia beat San Diego.
