Stilos closed

Stilos, one of Liberty Lake’s upscale eateries, closed its doors for good last Sunday, citing rising costs as the main catalyst.

All isn’t lost for the Liberty Lakers, however. Co-owners Rhonda Entner and Patrick Fechser plan to keep the doors open at Hay J’s Bistro, 21706 E. Mission Ave.

Call Hay J’s at (509) 926-2310.

Spokane scores new meat market

For years, the Liberty Café space adjacent to Auntie’s Bookstore and Uncle’s Games in downtown Spokane has been in dire need of a facelift.

After all, it’s hard to justify filling such a prime spot with a café that, let’s face it, often served as little more than a meeting room for reading groups.

Well, no more.

Enter Sante Restaurant and Charcuterie, a new spot with plans to open by the end of summer (tick, tick, tick) to promote “a healthy lifestyle, through embracing the multitude of resources the Inland Northwest has to offer,” according to the Web site, santespokane.com.

If the restaurant idea doesn’t excite you, the charcuterie side of the restaurant might.

Charcuterie is the art of preparing and preserving meat, through curing, confit and more. Meaning we’re going to have a real meat market in downtown Spokane.
