Rose Jones crowned Liberty Lake champ

Rose Jones won the 2008 championship of the Liberty Lake Women’s 18-Hole Golf Club.

Jones defeated Jan Rooney for the title to conclude the three-week tournament. Jean Hatcher with a net 68 was consolation winner of the championship flight.

First flight winner was Gloria Cash over Louise Newtson. Consolation winner was Carol Blume at net 76. Second flight winner was Coleen Weisnor over Myrna Neubauer and Frances Martin netted 75 as consolation victor.

It was the final tournament of the season as golfers give way to the golf course’s renovation project.

Trailhead at Liberty Lake – The women conducted a golf invitational on Aug. 13. Sharron Collins in second flight shot low gross 45 and Stacey Garcia had 46. In first flight Jean Allemand and Jen Whitehead tied with 47. Third flight was also a tie between Jacque Sanchez and Gay Curley at 53.

Net winners were Marcia Rowley and Patty Haskins with 33s in first flight, Shirley Rodman and Candice Smith with 29s in second. Renee Begovich netted 30 and Kathie Heim 33 in third flight.

The week before Allemand shot 39 to win A flight during medal play. Deanna Hauser shot 47 in B flight and Bev Johnson and Begovich 59s in C. Net winners were Collins and Iness Walth with 31s to lead A and B respectively. Marilyn Collins netted 39 in C flight.

Liberty Lake 9 Hole – During two recent competitions Mary Ann Wilharm led first flight with a low gross 54 and Frances Martin shot 59. Martin also had low net of 38 and a chip-in.

Second flight low gross winners were Ann Archibald and Nancy Lampe with 57s and Nellie Auckerman with 62. Net winners were Lorraine Martin with 41 and Mary Gehrman with 40.

Third flight was won by Polly Soderquist with 70 and Pat Reiter had net 47.

Painted Hills – Here are the results of the last three weeks of competition.

Sue Greany shot 49 and Allemand had successive 46s for low gross wins in A flight. Arlene Koth at 42, Greany at 36 and Sharon Meier at 34 were net leaders.

In B flight, Debbie Paullin shot 47, June Hathaway 56 and Karen Goyins 50 for low gross bests. Ellen Spalding with 36, Bette Snow with 38 and Paullin with 33 were net winners.

Maria Nelson and June Hathaway shot 56 and Margaret Tirk 50 for C flight low gross wins. Edie Foedish and Tirk with 36 and Lynn Knight with 33 were respective net winners.

Carol Chevalier shot 64, Joan Koch had 62 and 60 to win D flight. Ina Gruenwald had nets of 39 and 34 and Lynn Langford netted 44 in between to lead that category.

During the three outings, Koth, Foedish, Knight and Tirk all had chip-ins en route. Goyins and Kathy Perry birdied, the latter by chipping in on the fourth hole.
