Idaho delegates get new seats at DNC

One group that was particularly moved this weekend by Barack Obama’s selection of Joe Biden was the Idaho delegation to the Democratic National Convention.

They weren’t moved to tears.

They were moved from their enviable spot on the convention floor – down front, to the left of the podium – as part of a swap with the Delaware delegation, which received the choice location in honor of Biden’s selection. Idaho’s new location, and Delaware’s old one, is to the back of the convention floor. It was described by one cable news reporter as “in the nosebleed section.”

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brady, who is a member of the Idaho delegation and is posting comments in a blog, said the Gem Staters were fairly unfazed.

“Idaho delegates seemed not the least disturbed by this Sunday,” Brady wrote.

“Many were dancing the early night away at a splashy party thrown by the Louisiana Delegation at the Colorado Convention Center to highlight the transformation taking place in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.”
