Stir it up on the North Side

Ken Dupree, the former owner of downtown Spokane’s now-defunct Fat Tuesday’s bar and music venue, recently cut the ribbon on a new hangout.

But this time, he invaded a North Side strip mall, opening an upscale restaurant and lounge called Stir, 7115 N. Division St..

“We just felt like there was a niche here,” Dupree said. “It’s a place to get this kind of food up north.”

Dupree’s of course referring to Northwest-eclectic dinner entrees such as the Apple Roasted Double Pork Chop ($17) and Blackened Ahi Tuna with Truffled Risotto Cake ($19), created by former Bluefish chef David Lee.

I don’t know about you, but I find it heartening that upscale restaurants and lounges – Vin Rouge, Amrosia Bistro and Wine Bar, et al – continue to fill vacancies in strip malls and fast food restaurants.

Stir opens at 11 a.m. daily. Closing hours vary.

Where’s Neo?

The addresses for Café Neo, 10208 N. Division St., and Ambrosia Bistro and Wine Bar, 9211 E. Montgomery Ave., were omitted from last week’s Taste of the Town column.

If you were wondering where they were located, now you know.
