Stull, McCoy propel Pitt

Associated Press

Bill Stull threw for two touchdowns and LeSean McCoy ran for another to help Pittsburgh beat Connecticut 34-10 Saturday at East Hartford, Conn., giving the Panthers their first nine-win regular season since 1982 and a bid to the Sun Bowl.

Pittsburgh (9-3, 5-2 Big East) took control with a 24-point third quarter.

UConn (7-5, 3-4) could be headed to the Motor City Bowl.

UConn’s Donald Brown ran for 189 yards on 34 carries, assuring he will end the regular season as the nation’s leading rusher.

McCoy has 21 rushing TDs, one behind Tony Dorsett’s single-season Pittsburgh record.

Also in the Big East, Pat White threw a touchdown pass in his final home game and West Virginia (8-4, 5-2) mustered enough offense on a snowy field to beat visiting South Florida (7-5, 2-5) 13-7.
