The matchups

By Terry Bannon Chicago Tribune

Jaguars at Bears

Time: 10 a.m.

Line: Bears by 6 1/2 .

Records: Jaguars (4-8); Bears (6-6)

Jaguars: Have lost three straight, not scoring more than 17, and five of six. One of NFL’s disappointments not likely to thaw out at Soldier Field.

Bears: Three straight home games, beginning today (then Saints, Packers), give them hope in weak division.

Fantasy outlook: Jaguars’ Maurice Jones-Drew has run for 11 TDs, averaging 4.2 per carry; Bears’ Matt Forte has 10 TDs (six run, four pass) and is third in NFL with 1,370 yards from scrimmage.

Injuries: Bears DT Dusty Dvoracek (biceps) out for the year… . Jaguars CB Rashean Mathis (knee) is out.

Vikings at Lions

Time: 10 a.m.

Line: Vikings by 10.

Records: Vikings (7-5); Lions (0-12)

Vikings: Good game to get the kinks out – Vikings have won 12 of last 13 in non-rivalry.

Lions: Former Viking Daunte Culpepper leads Lions’ upset hopes. But they haven’t held anyone to less than 25 points in seven weeks.

Fantasy outlook: Vikings’ Adrian Peterson leads NFL with 1,311 rushing yards, and has run for nine TDs. Lions’ Kevin Smith (4.3 avg., five TDs) may find running room.

Injuries: Lions receiver Mike Furrey (concussion) on injured reserve.

Texans at Packers

Time: 10 a.m.

Line: Packers by 6.

Records: Texans (5-7); Packers (5-7)

Texans: QB Matt Schaub returns from knee injury after watching Texans go 2-2 without him. But can they run ball on frozen tundra, which is expected to be 20 degrees?

Packers: Maybe this is where they miss Brett Favre – 0-4 in games decided by four points or fewer. Should be able to run in this one.

Fantasy outlook: Texans’ Andre Johnson leads NFL with 88 catches, four for TDs; Packers’ Greg Jennings has TD in three straight games (64 catches, seven TDs).

Injuries: Packers DE Kenny Pettway (knee) out for year. C Scott Wells (concussion) and S Atari Bigby (shoulder) may not play.

Bengals at Colts

Time: 10 a.m.

Line: Colts by 13 1/2 .

Records: Bengals (1-10-1); Colts (8-4)

Bengals: Have scored only 26 points since bye week (0-2-1), so difficult to see them mounting much of attack. Cedric Benson not helping (2.9 yards per carry).

Colts: Should extend win streak to six and win by more than six points, which they haven’t done in eight weeks. Colts have beaten Bengals five straight.

Fantasy outlook: Bengals’ Chad Ocho Cinco has 17 catches for 298 yards in three games vs. Colts; Indy’s Reggie Wayne has 12 catches, two TDs, in last two games vs. Bengals.

Injuries: Bengals S Marvin White (knee) out for the year… . Colts LB Gary Brackett (leg) out.

Falcons at Saints

Time: 10 a.m.

Line: Saints by 3.

Records: Falcons (8-4); Saints (6-6)

Falcons: Have won at Green Bay, Oakland and San Diego. But this is against divisional rival. Have won four of last five overall, and one game out of first in NFC South.

Saints: NFL’s No. 1 offense keeps getting big plays from Drew Brees, who leads NFL with 24 TD passes.

Fantasy outlook: Falcons rookie Matt Ryan tossed two TD passes in home win over Saints four weeks ago. Saints’ Lance Moore has six TD catches in last five games, eight this season.

Injuries: Falcons CB Brent Grimes (knee) is questionable.

Eagles at Giants

Time: 10 a.m. TV: Fox 28

Line: Giants by 7.

Records: Eagles (6-5-1); Giants (11-1)

Eagles: They should have saved some points from last week’s 28-point win over Cardinals. Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook will hit field with confidence.

Giants: The Plaxico Burress distraction factor is over with, but will they miss him on the field? They’re too deep to worry, and have beaten Eagles six of last seven times. Can clinch NFC East with win.

Fantasy outlook: Eagles’ Westbrook has run for eight TDs; Giants’ Brandon Jacobs has run for 12, including two at Philly Nov. 9.

Injuries: Eagles RB Correll Buckhalter (knee) is doubtful… . Giants DT Fred Robbins (shoulder) is questionable.

Browns at Titans

Time: 10 a.m.

Line: Titans by 14.

Records: Browns (4-8); Titans (11-1)

Browns: Ken Dorsey, their third starting QB of season, hasn’t completed pass since ’05 with 49ers, who were 2-8 in his starts in ’04-’05. In exhibitions this year, he threw one TD vs. three INTs.

Titans: Have won 14 of last 15 regular-season games. Can clinch AFC South with win and have two-game lead for AFC’s top seed. Turnover differential of plus-13 big factor.

Fantasy outlook: Jamal Lewis, averaging just 3.6 per carry, has four rushing TDs; Titans’ Chris Johnson averages 4.7 with seven rushing TDs.

Injuries: Browns QB Derek Anderson (knee) has joined Brady Quinn (finger) on injured reserve.

Dolphins vs. Bills

At Toronto

Time: 1:05 p.m.

Line: Bills by 1.

Records: Dolphins (7-5); Bills (6-6)

Dolphins: No room for error in race for wild-card berth, but they’ve won five of six with 49ers, Chiefs and Jets to close season. Other than Bill Parcells, who would have guessed?

Bills: Toronto’s Rogers Centre is their new home-away-from-home. Would have had better chance vs. warm-weather Fish in Buffalo, no? Dolphins 2-7 in Buffalo after Dec. 1. J.P. Losman will start at QB ahead of Trent Edwards (groin).

Fantasy outlook: Dolphins’ Ted Ginn, who has 47 catches and one TD, had career-best 175 receiving yards on seven catches in Oct. 26 win over Bills. Bills’ Marshawn Lynch has rushed for 332 yards in last three games.

Injuries: Dolphins G Justin Smiley (leg) may be out.

Chiefs at Broncos

Time: 1:05 p.m.

Line: Broncos by 91/2.

Records: Chiefs (2-10); Broncos (7-5)

Chiefs: One of Chiefs’ wins was over Broncos, which works against them in this one. Win last week at Raiders only shows how bad Raiders are.

Broncos: Can clinch woeful AFC West with win and Chargers’ loss or tie. Then what? One-and-done, that’s what.

Fantasy outlook: Chiefs’ Larry Johnson ran for 198 yards and two TDs in Sept. 28 win over Broncos, and has four straight 100-yard games vs. Denver. Broncos rookie Peyton Hillis, coming off 129-yard game, goes for fourth straight with running TD.

Injuries: Broncos DE Ebenezer Ekuban (neck) is questionable.

Jets at 49ers

Time: 1:05 p.m.

Line: Jets by 31/2.

Records: Jets (8-4); 49ers (4-8)

Jets: Have won three straight road games (Bills, Patriots, Titans) and are getting big years from RB Thomas Jones and QB Brett Favre.

49ers: The 49ers are hot, by their standards – they’ve won two out of three and are 2-3 under interim coach Mike Singletary. They’ve won four of QB Shaun Hill’s six starts.

Fantasy outlook: Jets rookie TE Dustin Keller has 27 catches (one TD) in last four games. Veteran Isaac Bruce has six TD catches for 49ers.

Injuries: 49ers’ CB Nate Clements is dealing with thumb injury. … KR Allen Rossum (ankle) may miss second straight game.

Rams at Cardinals

Time: 1:15 p.m.

Line: Cardinals by 14.

Records: Rams (2-10); Cardinals (7-5)

Rams: Offensive drought just keeps dragging on with only 63 points in six-game losing streak. Have scored more than 19 points once all season.

Cardinals: Can clinch NFC West, which would be first division title since ’75, with win or 49ers loss. But Cards have allowed combined 85 points in consecutive losses to Giants and Eagles.

Fantasy outlook: Rams rookie Donnie Avery rare bright spot with 35 catches for 499 yards. Cards’ Anquan Boldin has 78 catches, NFL-leading 11 TD catches.

Injuries: Cards CB Rod Hood (ribs) is questionable.

Cowboys at Steelers

Time: 1:15 p.m. TV: Fox 28

Line: Steelers by 3.

Records: Cowboys (8-4); Steelers (9-3)

Cowboys: Have won three straight since bye week. Tony Romo leads NFL with 103.2 passer rating. They’re building momentum.

Steelers: No. 1-ranked defense has allowed only 10 ppg in three-game winning streak. Doesn’t take much offense with that defense.

Fantasy outlook: Cowboys’ Terrell Owens has 12 catches for 311 yards and two TDs in last two weeks; Steelers’ Willie Parker averages 106.2 rushing yards at home.

Injuries: Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins (hamstring) and Steelers DE Brett Keisel (knee) both likely out.

Redskins at Ravens

Time: 5:15 p.m. TV: NBC

Line: Ravens by 51/2.

Records: Redskins (7-5); Ravens (8-4)

Redskins: Fast start has faded as Redskins have lost three of four vs. toughest chunk of schedule. They need big plays on offense.

Ravens: Winners of six of last seven, Ravens have won last two by combined 70-10 margin (Eagles, Bengals). This won’t be that easy, but defense will dominate.

Fantasy outlook: Redskins’ Clinton Portis is NFL’s No. 2 rusher with 1,228 yards, and has run for seven TDs. Ravens rookie Joe Flacco has thrown 12 TD passes vs. nine INTs.

Injuries: Redskins LB London Fletcher (foot) is questionable.
