Shock add receiver


The Spokane Shock added former Hawaii receiver Jason Rivers to the roster.

Rivers finished his Hawaii career as the school’s all-time leading receiver with 292 receptions for 3,919 yards and 35 touchdowns. Rivers holds the NCAA record for the most receiving yards in a bowl game with 308 yards (14 receptions) against Arizona State in the 2006 Hawai’i Bowl.

Rivers is the 22nd player added to the Shock’s 2009 roster.

Pein service Saturday

The funeral service for the Herman Pein, 80, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Jenkins High School gymnasium in Chewelah.

Pein, a coach and teacher for 36 years in Chewelah and a member of the Eastern Washington University Athletics Hall of Fame, died in an automobile accident on Dec. 1.
