Churches plan special holiday services

There’s a white Christmas to look forward to this year and Valley churches plan to greet the holiday with special worship services and other events.

•A children’s Christmas pageant will be presented during the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 15319 E. Eighth.

The church will also have Christmas Eve services at 7 and 10 p.m. Wednesday and a 10 a.m. worship service on Christmas Day.

•The Sunday school children at Foothills Community Church will present their Christmas pageant at 6 p.m. on Sunday. It is titled “The First Noel – Told Through Carols and the History Behind Them.” Those attending are asked to bring Christmas treats to share.

The church, 11102 N. Forker Road, will also have a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m.

•The children of Spokane Valley Assembly of God Church will present a Christmas concert titled “The First Leon” during the 10:45 a.m. worship service on Sunday. The church, 15618 E. Broadway, will also host a Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

•A Christmas pageant will be performed during the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday at Veradale United Church of Christ, 611 N. Progress Road. On Sunday evening a Longest Night service will begin at 7 p.m. The service is designed for those who are grieving during the holidays.

The church will also host a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

•Peace Lutheran Church, 4124 N. Harvard Road, will have a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 7:30 p.m. Birthday cake for Jesus will be served.

•Three Christmas Eve services are planned at Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye, A traditional service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a family candlelight service at 5 p.m. and the Chancel Choir will perform during the service at 7.

•Sunday school children at Christ Lutheran Church will present their Christmas program at 6 p.m. Sunday. The performance will be preceded by a soup supper at 5. The church will also host a candlelight family Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m., followed by an additional service at 8. The church is at 13009 E. Broadway.

•Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines Road, will host Christmas Eve services at 5 and 8 p.m. Wednesday.

•Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines Road, will begin its Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

•Christmas Eve services will begin at 6 and 9 p.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 810 S. Sullivan Road.

•A Christmas Eve service will begin at 6 p.m. at the Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, 15515 E. 20th Ave.

•Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road, will host Christmas Eve worship services at 6:30 and 9 p.m. Wednesday.

•Spokane Valley United Methodist Church will host a “Festival of the King” service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a traditional Christmas Eve service at 10 p.m. The church is at 115 N. Raymond Road.
