More honors for Bush, LC
Outside hitter Oceana Bush and coach Julie Yearout from State 4A champion Lewis and Clark have been selected by a panel of 13 statewide prep writers as the player and coach of the year for the 4A classification.
Joining Bush on the first team was Mead’s Alexis Olgard.
Lewis and Clark also placed two players on the second-team – hitter Chloe Rowand and setter Hilary Koenigs.
Shelby Puckett of Tekoa-Oakesdale was named Class 2B player of the year.
Joining Yearout as coaches of the year were Brooke Cooper of Shadle Park (3A), Sue Doering of Colfax (2B) and Sandy Martin of LaCrosse-Washtucna (1B).
In class 3A, Shadle Park hitter Amy Before was a second-team selection and Shadle setter Lindsay Niemeier made honorable mention.
West Valley setter Alyssa Wold earned first-team recognition in 2A.
Jessica Coots of Kettle Falls earned 1A honorable mention.
Puckett was joined on the 2B first-team by Kayla Johnson and Rachel Johnson of Colfax. Second-team picks were Erin Scholz of Colfax and Desiree Chappell of Tekoa-Oakesdale.
In class 1B, first-teamers were Shyanne Wilson of Northport, Kelly Zimmer and Gladys Martinez of LaCrosse-Washtucna and Trisha Luft of St. John-Endicott.
Jewel Gamboa of Wilbur-Creston was a second-team pick.

Three local All-State picks
Three local players were selected first-team All-State by a panel of 13 statewide prep writers.
Lauren Layton of Mead was a first-team defender in class 4A.
Averi Hallman of Mt. Spokane was a first-team forward in class 3A and forward Kellie Zakrzewski of Cheney was selected in 2A.
Amy Sterk of Pullman was named to the 2A second team, while Megan Lindsay of Gonzaga Prep was 4A honorable mention and Brandi Adaszewski of Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) was 1A honorable mention.
