Crews continue snow clearing

Arterials within the city of Spokane are in decent shape this morning: clear yet icy, giving crews a chance to clear residential streets. Plows are working on hilly routes 22, 23 and 24 in west and northwest Spokane, and they continue work on South Hill routes 20 and 21. In flatter areas, crews have completed South Hill routes 1, 2, 3, as well as 12 and 13 to the northwest part of the city. They’re working routes 4 and 5 to the south and 10 and 11 up north. County crews cleared some of the primary arterials overnight, and two county crews will continue that work during the day. For more information on Spokane plowing, call (509) 456-2666. Residents with driveways that get blocked by the plows should wait for two pieces of snow removing equipment to pass their address before they start digging out. The city remains in “Condition Red,” meaning that crews clear snow around the clock seven days a week. Residents are asked to move cars from the streets when the plows are expected, and to not approach the plows and graders as they are coming down streets. Twelve contracted graders will work on clearing hillside areas and residential streets, working 24-7 until the job is done. For Spokane Valley snow plowing information, call (509) 688-0311.
