NIC, CCS triumph at tourney

SALEM, Ore. – Community Colleges of Spokane and North Idaho College will meet in the second round of the Chemeketa Holiday Tournament today at 7 p.m. after victories on Saturday night.

CCS (7-3) defeated the Chemeketa Storm (4-5) 70-49, while North Idaho beat Yakima Valley 73-58.

Kelsey Stillar scored 14 points, Clara Hull and Andrea DePaolo 11 apiece and Richelle Daily 10 in the Sasquatch’s victory over the Storm. CCS dominated the boards 48-30. The Sasquatch led 33-18 at the half.

Three Cardinals scored in double figures in NIC’s win. Guards Lindsey Stark and Natalie Nichols scored 17 and 15 points, respectively, with wing Lindsay Wimett picking up 13 points.

Although no Cardinal was in double figures for rebounds, they held a 49-35 advantage.

NIC (9-2) led 37-17 at the half.

NIC has defeated CCS twice this season.
