Pardons must be thwarted

The Spokesman-Review

Since our elected officials did not bring impeachment hearings for President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for violating the U.S. Constitution while they were in office, the least they can do now is to prevent these criminals from pardoning themselves prior to leaving office.

I urge all our elected officials to take a final stand in support of our Constitution by preventing our lame-duck president from absolving himself and his cronies of any responsibility to the crimes they have committed. I request my elected representatives, Sens. Murray and Cantwell and Rep. McMorris Rodgers, to co-sponsor H. Res. 1531. Justice must be served.
