Thrashers stop Sabres in shootout

Eric Perrin, Atlanta’s fourth shooter, beat Jocelyn Thibault with a fake before scoring in the shootout to give the Thrashers a 5-4 win over Buffalo on Friday night in Atlanta.

Perrin faked to his right before pulling the puck back and shooting past Thibault to the left side of the net, ending the Sabres’ three-game winning streak.

Thrashers goalie Johan Hedberg stopped shots by Ales Kotalik, Derek Roy, Clarke MacArthur and Thomas Vanek in the shootout.

Blues 1, Ducks 0 (SO): At St. Louis, Andy McDonald and Brad Boyes scored on the first two rounds of a shootout while Manny Legace stopped Anaheim’s first two chances, giving the Blues a victory over the Ducks.

Panthers 4, Canucks 3 (SO): At Sunrise, Fla., Nathan Horton scored the only goal in the shootout and Florida beat Vancouver, the Panthers’ first win over the Canucks in more than eight years.

Rangers 3, Devils 1: At Newark, N.J., Chris Drury scored two goals and Henrik Lundqvist made 33 saves as New York continued its dominance of New Jersey.

The Rangers have won all five meetings this season between the metropolitan-area rivals.

Stars 4, Oilers 1: At Edmonton, Alberta, Marty Turco had 32 saves, Brenden Morrow scored a goal and added an assist, and Dallas defeated the Oilers.

Stephane Robidas, Steve Ott and Jussi Jokinen also scored for Dallas.

Red Wings 2, Avalanche 0: At Detroit, Henrik Zetterberg’s 30th goal broke a scoreless tie with 2:20 left and Dominik Hasek made 15 saves for his 80th career shutout to lift the Red Wings over Colorado.

Kris Draper added an empty-netter with 13 seconds left.

Dumont signed a four-year, $16 million contract with the Nashville Predators. … Dallas activated Jere Lehtinen for their game at Edmonton, ending his 33-game absence with an abdominal injury that led to sports hernia surgery. … Guy Lafleur‘s lawyer says the former NHL star will let a jury decide his fate on accusations he gave contradictory testimony at his son’s bail hearing last year.
