Liberty lake blotter

The Spokesman-Review

Two people were apparently responsible for an early morning crime spree last Thursday in the Liberty Lake area, though only one incident was inside the city limits. A resident left a vehicle running in the driveway to warm up shortly after 6:30 a.m. and a pair of people were observed stealing the car and then abandoning it a short way down the road after getting it stuck in the snow, said Liberty Lake Police Chief Brian Asmus.

Two similar incidents outside the city limits were reported that morning with the same result. No one was caught in connection with the crimes. Police believe the same duo is responsible for all three attempted thefts. “We’re pretty confident of that,” Asmus said. “The good new is there was no damage to the cars.”

The snow also brought a few slide-offs on area roads. “We had a couple on Liberty Lake Road on the same day,” Asmus said.

The week also netted three arrests, all for traffic offenses. Talesha G. Glover, 23, of Spokane, was arrested for driving under the influence, as was a 17-year-old male. Jacob L. Schrieber, 28, of Liberty Lake was arrested for reckless driving.

Police also handed out citations for violation of an intermediate license, failure to show liability insurance, speeding too fast for conditions, reckless driving and prohibited parking.
