Road maintenance never the issue

In the Handle Extra article of Feb. 2, “Triangle Road residents back on the mail route,” Postmaster Barbara Puckett is quoted as saying, “The decision to bring delivery back to Triangle 7 Road was made because Lakes Highway District has done a good job of maintaining it over the past few months,” and “we’re glad the problem has been resolved.”

Although we on Triangle 7 Road are happy to have our mail service restored, we are disappointed by Postmaster Puckett’s implication that Lakes Highway District had ever failed to properly maintain Triangle 7 Road.

It had been pointed out to Postmaster Puckett and her superiors, on at least a dozen occasions, that LHD was, and has always, provided exceptional service. It was even pointed out that only two years ago, LHD had dramatically improved Triangle 7 Road. It is appalling to me, that Postmaster Puckett would, in my opinion, “slime by implication” LHD. Joe Wuest and his crew at LHD have for years provided exceptional service and do not deserve any implications otherwise.

Postmaster Puckett should simply admit that she made a “bad management decision” and leave it at that!
