Pats: too many questions

What happened to New England on Super Sunday? Was it really an upset by the underdog Giants? Or were the Patriots exposed as the paper tigers some expected them to be (and 1972 Miami Dolphins legacy-lovers hoped they would be?)

Were there flaws in the play and character of superstars Tom Brady and Randy Moss that opposing teams had overlooked in 18 straight wins? Incidentally, Brady’s record 50 TD passes in 2007 was made on 398 total completions. Peyton Manning’s and Dan Marino’s previous 49 and 48 were based on fewer completions, 336 and 362, respectively. Moss broke Jerry Rice’s 22-TD record with many more catches than Rice (98 to 65.)

Finally, recalling that New England won each of its three Super Bowls by three points on the leg of current Colt Adam Vinatieri, do such slim wins diminish their claim as a really great team for the ages? So many questions about the Patriots, but at least my first was answered: 17-14.
