“The Food You Crave”

Ellie Krieger (Taunton Press, $28.00)

Ellie Krieger is a food lover and a mom. The host of the Food Network’s “Healthy Appetite with Ellie Krieger” is also a registered dietitian and author of the new cookbook “The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes for a Healthy Life.” For Krieger, no food is off limits. Her healthy food philosophy is that there are foods you “usually” eat, others that “sometimes” land on your plate and others you should indulge in “rarely.” There are tips for eating well and each of the 200-plus recipes includes the nutrition information and details about the vitamins and minerals you’ll be getting. She spiffs up the profile of some of the most nutritionally challenged dishes you can think of: macaroni and cheese, granola, sloppy Joes, garlic fries and potato salad.

Look inside today’s Food section for the recipe for Caesar Salad with Lemon Pepper Shrimp.
