Kootenai, Wallace return to state

The North Star League sent two experienced girls basketball teams to the Idaho State 1A tournament a year ago.

As it turned out, the state appearances were brief for Kootenai and Wallace. Both played two games and were eliminated.

Kootenai and Wallace return to state today. How well they fare with less experience and depth than last season remains to be seen.

It’s the eighth straight trip for Kootenai (8-12) and 11th in the last 12 seasons. Wallace (6-15) is making a fourth consecutive visit.

The 16-team field is divided into two sites in Nampa. Wallace meets District V-VI runner-up Mackay (16-8) at 2 p.m. PST at Columbia High School, while Kootenai takes on District IV fourth-place team Carey (12-8) at 5:15 at Nampa High School.
