GSL teams vie for state bids

For half of the Greater Spokane League’s basketball teams it’s “do” today in the 4A East Regional in Kennewick. It’s do-or-die for the other half.

Lewis and Clark girls play Walla Walla in a 4 p.m. semifinal on Court 1 at the Toyata Center with a berth at state going to the victor.

Also at 4 in loser-out competition, Shadle Park plays Central Valley, followed by Mead vs. Richland.

Ferris and University play in one boys semifinal at 7 p.m., followed by Shadle vs. Richland. Also at 7, Central Valley faces Eisenhower in a game for survival.

The tournament continues Saturday with consolation games beginning at 11 a.m. for girls and 1 p.m. for boys. The girls championship is at 3 p.m. and the boys championship is at 5.

•The District 7 2A tournament boys pairings are set. The tournament opens at 8 tonight at Cheney with No. 6 Medical Lake and No. 3 Cheney in a loser-out game. The boys tourney continues at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at West Valley with No. 5 Deer Park and No. 4 WV in a loser-out game. No. 1 Pullman and No. 2 Clarkston have byes until Wednesday.
